CAR WINDOW TINt LAWS IN DUBAI
In Dubai, vehicle window tinting regulations are strict to ensure safety and visibility. According to Circular No. 86 and Article No. 9 of the Traffic Law, the following guidelines apply:
Front windshield: The front windshield requires a minimum Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of 0%, which means no tinting is permitted.
Front side windows: The driver and passenger front side windows must have a minimum VLT of 50%, allowing up to 50% of visible light to pass through.
Rear side windows and rear windshield: The rear side windows and rear windshield can have a VLT as low as 30%, permitting a darker tint than the front side windows.
Before 2017, Dubai’s regulations allowed only up to 30% tinting. The law has since been updated to permit up to 50% tint on the side and rear windows while prohibiting tinting on the front windshield. Tinting rules do not apply to trucks and taxis. Violating these regulations can result in a fine of AED 1500. However, exceptions may be granted with prior approval from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) or Dubai Police.

FAQS ABOUT Window Tint Film
Can window tint films be applied to all types of vehicles?
The idea that window tinting is exclusive to sports cars and exotic vehicles is outdated. In fact, many cars, regardless of make and model, already have some degree of tint and UV protection in their windows. Adding window tinting films can enhance this protection, provide additional style, and increase security for any vehicle.
Which window tint film package is right for my vehicle?
This is a subjective question. You should consult one of our installation experts. The ideal package for your vehicle largely depends on your lifestyle and location, as well as your specific requirements for privacy, UV protection, and heat rejection.
Can window tinting be removed or replaced?
Yes, it can be done, especially when handled by a professional team like ours at MotoRefine. Since window tinting involves applying a film, we use specialized equipment and processes to carefully remove old or faded tint films, clean the windows, and then apply a new tint package to your vehicle.
What should I do after getting the window tinted?
After applying window tint, refrain from rolling down the windows for the recommended curing period (usually 2-3 days). This allows the tint film to adhere properly. Moreover, when cleaning tinted windows, use gentle methods and avoid harsh chemicals.
